Anniversary: 25th edition of the International WACHAUmarathon! Now 2025!
Anniversary: This was the 25th edition of the International WACHAU Marathon!
New course records in perfect conditions: At the 25th International WACHAU Marathon, a new course record was set for both the men’s and women’s half marathon.
More than 7,500 participants took on the race along the Danube. At the traditionally well-attended half marathon, the perfect running conditions on the traditional route through the Wachau Valley led to top times.
Mkulia Kipkandie from Kenya improved the WACHAU Marathon half marathon course record to a sensational time of 59:47.
In the women’s race, Cynthia Chepkwony from Kenya beat the old half marathon course record from 2018 by almost a minute. The new course record is now 1:08:33.
Raiffeisen Marathon with top times from Austria
The victory in the marathon distance goes to Michal Majoroš from the Czech Republic with a time of 2:30:38. Second and third place went to the two Austrians Alexis Treitler (2:31:21) and Andreas Bauernfeind (2:32:26), both with new personal bests.
In the women’s race, the podium remained entirely in Austrian hands. Katrin Zauner won with a time of 3:04:36. Beatrix Krainer took second place (3:10:16) and Verena Müller took third place (3:11:12).
We congratulate all finishers of the 25th WACHAU Marathon 2025 and are already looking forward to the 26th WACHAU Marathon on September 13, 2026.
